Over summer we are collecting information at eight playground sites around Waipā to learn how these spaces are being used and what the community thinks of them.
The information collected will help us decide how to upgrade and develop our play spaces in the future.
Our team will be out and about from Wednesday to Sunday, 9am - 6pm at:
- Lake Te Koo Utu, Cambridge
- Terry Came Drive, Cambridge
- Gwyneth Common, Cambridge
- Kings Garden, Cambridge
- Pioneer Park, Te Awamutu
- War Memorial Park, Te Awamutu
- Turere Reserve, Te Awamutu
- John Rochfort Park, Kihikihi
The project will run from November 18 2024 to January 26 2025.
The data will be collected by two contractors on site at the eight playgrounds but you can still provide your feedback by completing the online survey.
Background
This is our third summer running our annual playground data project.
We're surveying people using recently revamped playgrounds to:
- review how the public perceive the upgraded playgrounds
- understand what equipment is popular, and what is less popular
- capture and compare the number of people using the playground post revamp.
We're surveying people using older playgrounds that are nearing upgrade to:
- capture numbers using the playground both pre and post revamp
- understand the ages of the children currently using the playground
- hear what users want in that playground.
The last two years have been a success with nearly 300 responses collected each time.
