Over the summer, we will be at eight playground sites around Waipā collecting information about how our community like to use these spaces.

We will be conducting a survey as part of the project to collect your views.

Our team will be out and about with the survey at:

  • Lake Te Koo Utu
  • Leamington Domain
  • Hiskens Place Reserve
  • Kings Garden
  • Pioneer Park
  • Memorial Park
  • Thompson Street playground
  • Gwyneth Common

This data will help us inform future developments around our play spaces.

The project will run from 22 November 2023 to 28 January 2024.

Background

This project was also run over the 2022/2023 summer for the first time and was a success with nearly 300 responses collected.

We're surveying people using recently revamped playgrounds to:

  • review how the public perceive the upgraded playgrounds
  • understand what equipment is popular, and what is less popular
  • capture and compare the number of people using the playground post revamp.

We're surveying people using older playgrounds that are nearing upgrade to:

  • capture numbers using the playground both pre and post revamp
  • understand the ages of the children currently using the playground
  • hear what users want in that playground.
