We are planning on building a skatepark and new playground equipment in Pirongia!

The location for the future skatepark has been identified as 341 Franklin Road, directly next to the Pirongia Rugby and Sports Club.

We want to know what you want to see at the future skatepark and we also have some questions around playground equipment in Pirongia.

We have budget for new playground equipment and want to know from the community where they want the budget spent. Either to upgrade Rangimare Reserve or install play equipment where the new skatepark is going or to split the budget between the two sites.

Your feedback will help us to design the skatepark and plan where the new play equipment will go! Once we have designed the skatepark the community will have the opportunity to have their say on the proposed plan.

The community made it clear through the 2021-2031 Long Term Plan submissions, that more play and recreation facilities for young people were needed.

This led to budget being approved in years 1 and 2 of the Long-Term Plan with $100,000 being allocated to the Pirongia site to put towards the project to support community fundraising.

Majority of the future skatepark will be fundraised for by the community. How much the community can fund will determine the size of the skatepark, when construction starts and how long it will take to complete the skatepark (it may be done in stages).
